3. Does it make a difference to which deadline I submit?
|
No. All submissions are processed and viewed in the same manner. The only difference is the submissions fees. We encourage you to submit as early as possible. |

4. How much does it cost to submit?

5. Should I choose a section of TIFF to submit my film for?
|
No. You are not required to choose a section. The festival accepts submissions only for the main competition first and inform you if we would like to invite it to the other sections. |

6. Do you accept works in progress?
|
Yes. We are used to see films without color correction, before audio mixing etc., however, as we cannot guarantee that we can consider updated version later, we suggest submitting at least an editing locked version or a version which is very close to a final version. |

7. What is your preferred format for submission?
Do you accept PAL DVD or Blu-ray?
|
Our preference is a DVD (NTSC) or a password protected streaming link like Vimeo link; PAL DVD or Blu-ray may not work on our players. |

8. When and how will I know if my film has been selected?
|
We notify ALL submitters via email of their status by mid-September 2018. Please make sure your email address on an entry form is up to date. |

9. If my film is not selected, may I speak with a programmer for feedback?
|
No, unfortunately, due to the volume of submissions we receive, we are unable to correspond with each applicant. |

Eligibility
1. Do you accept Documentary films? Or Short films?
|
Short films and documentary films are not eligible. Must be feature films (including animation) running over 60 minutes. |

2. Does premiere status matter?
What is International premiere and Asian premiere?
|
All films submitted for TIFF maintain at least an Asian premiere meaning the film has not been exhibited publicly anywhere in Asian countries. (theatrical release, festival screening etc.)
World and International Premieres are given priority.
However, for Asian films, if the film has not been screened anywhere but the production country, it still has an International premiere status, so it is eligible. |

3. May I submit films with a Japanese distributor?
|
Yes. However, please make sure that they agree to let us screen your film before the release in Japan. |
