Dear TIFF friends,
Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) and TIFFCOM organized the "ARIGATO NIGHT" in Cannes on Friday, May 13 during the Cannes Film Festival to show our appreciation for the encouragement and support for given to Japan after the earthquake and tsunami on March 11, and to demonstrate what film festivals/people can do in this difficult time.
This gathering was attended by around 300 people in total including more than 20 international film festivals and film organizations such as Cannes, Berlin, Pusan, Toronto, Rotterdam and etc, and domestic and international press and journalists, and other film people around the world.

Donation boxes were placed at the "ARIGATO NIGHT" and Japan Booth during the festival, and could collect 1,380 euro (154,601 yen) during 6 days' activity. We report here that your contributions will go to Japanese Red Cross Society that directly helps victims recover from the devastating effects of the earthquake and tsunami. Each contributor received a TIFF/TIFFCOM "ARIGATO" wristband. This wristband also will be given to contributors continuously till the 24th TIFF in October.
We also received warm and supportive messages from the participants through “TIFF SIGN & ARCHIVE SYSTEM” at the night. The photos and signatures are now uploaded onto the TIFF official website:

The 24th TIFF will be held from October 22 to 30 in Roppongi, Japan, while its affiliated multi-content market TIFFCOM will be held from October 24 to 26.
TIFF is now accepting international submission for 2011 Competition (http://www.tiff-jp.net), and expecting more entries for this year.
