The 24th TIFF will join the Cannes Film Festival 2011


Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) and TIFFCOM will participate in the 64th Cannes International Film Festival to appeal the strong presence and promote the 24th TIFF and TIFFCOM2011 to industry people from around the world.

In Cannes, Japan Booth will be organized by UNIJAPAN/JETRO as the Japan PR center in Marché du Film and 17 Japanese Sales companies below will join. Also TIFF and TIFFCOM present a "Japan Special Focus 2011" which will be published in cooperation with Screen International on Day 2 (May 12th) with feature stories on the upcoming events in October, interview articles, and Japanese films and industry. In addition, UNIJAPAN Short Film Project "PATERNAL WOMB" has been selected for the Short Film Competition 2011 for the first time in 45 years.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Cannes.

The 24th TIFF will be held from October 22 (Sat) to 30 (Sun), 2011 for 9days in Tokyo, Japan. The 8th TIFFCOM will be held during the festival from the 24 (Mon) to the 26 (Wed).

■"PATERNAL WOMB" joins the Short Film Competition in Cannes.
UNIJAPAN Short Film Project for Young Filmmakers “PATERNAL WOMB” (Directed by TAZAKI Megumi) has been nominated for the Short Film Competition in Cannes as an official selection in 2011.

Synopsis: A faltering awkward journey of a half-blood sister and brother begins. For fifteen minutes, the film portrays their bond over two days and nights with the minimalist drama techniques and placid camera work.

TIFF Call for Entry
We are now accepting entries to the 24th TIFF Competition. Applications for submitting films are now being accepted on the official TIFF website (Deadline: July 15). Feature films of both digital format (in high definition) and 35mm film print, completed after January 1, 2011, are welcome for submission.
