The Competition Showcases 15 chosen from more than 600 films from 67 countries and regions around the globe.

“Tokyo Sakura Grand Prix” will be selected from them.

Special Screenings

Latest high profile works are chosen from those which have not yet been shown in Japan. Guests from the films concerned attend many of the screenings to take part in events including red carpet and stage appearances, which imbues a sense of celebration to each event.

Winds of Asia     Middle East

From films produced in Asia (including the Middle East) which hosts the most vibrant film industry in the world at present, fine works are selected for screening. “Winds of Asia–Middle East” promotes exchange with the Japanese film industry as well as contributing to the development of the Asian film industry.

Japanese Eyes

“Japanese Eyes” showcases the vibrancy and depth of the Japanese film industry both at home and overseas. Noting the diversity of Japanese films, new films are selected by various “eyes” without favoring any particular genres and types.

World Cinema

This brand-new section introduces new works mainly from Europe and America, which have been drawing worldwide attention. Excellent works with high appraisal at international film festivals as well as latest works of distinguished directors will be screened for the first time in Japan.

Tokyo in Focus

Tokyo has been filmed in a wide variety of films after the war to date. In an attempt to re-discover through scenes in films what have changed over time and what have not, works which are set in Tokyo are selected for screening.

Main Program - Extra Events

animetics TIFF 2007

“animecs TIFF 2007” focuses on creators (both individuals and production companies) who have led the animation industry in Japan, including “Production I.G” which celebrates its 20th year. Special features are organized for individual creators with outstanding quality. High quality animations and those attempting to bring a distinctive breadth of fresh air to suit this year’s 20th occasion of TIFF will be distributed from Roppongi and Akihabara to the world

Tokyo Internet Movie Festival 2007

Tokyo Internet Movie Festival was launched in 2004 as a strategic project underpinning TIFF’s Internet Competition category, and it plays a critical role as a project that cultivates future talent for the “Tokyo Sakura Grand Prix,” as well as a gateway to success for the next generation of visual creators.

TIFF SEI-YU KO-EN Live with Yosuke Yamashita

The voice professionals, whom Japan boasts about to the world, including Keiko Toda, Koichi Yamadera, Michio Hazama, provide voice overs for silent movies. The world famous “Yamashita Yosuke New Quartet” provides the accompaniment in the performance with a strong live feeling.

Cinema Vibration

Movies and Music have always come side by side to cut out slices of the age. TIFF presents a petit collection of "Music + Movies + Modern."

This year's event is titled "nostalgia for home" and presents various dramas with the theme of "home," which everyone keeps deep in their mind as a sweet hometown, a valued place, a special place of one's heart, etc.,

Bunka-Cho Film Week

In addition to the "Bunka-Cho Film Awards
Presentation Ceremony and Commemorative Screenings," "Film Festival Convention," "Tokyo Meeting," and "Film Commission Convention," new projects are planned for this year.

Minato Screening

This project is co-hosted by the Minato City Committee that was organized by the merchants' association, the residents' association and the town council of Minato Ward. This project is enjoyable for both children and adults.

The 20th Tokyo International Women's Film Festival

This year's Festival will be held from October 21(Sunday) to 25(Tuesday) at Tokyo Women's Plaza. Entries for the category are coming in. Your support and cooperation towards the Women's Festival again this year will be much appreciated.

This project is co-hosted by the Minato City Committee that was organized by the merchants' association, the residents' association and the town council of Minato Ward. This project is enjoyable for both children and adults.

The 7th Korean Cinema Week, launched in 2001, will also be held this year.
In line with this year's theme, the finest Korean movies are scheduled to be selected and screened.

Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2007

Works that received various awards at "the Short Shorts Film Festival and Asia 2007" held in June will be re-screened.

2007 Tokyo China Film Festival

This year's event is titled "nostalgia for home" and presents various dramas with the theme of "home," which everyone keeps deep in their mind as a sweet hometown, a valued place, a special place of one's heart, etc.,

HONG KONG FILM FESTIVAL

"HONG KONG FILM FESTIVAL" will be held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's handover to China. The breath and power of Hong Kong's movies in the new era are showcased.

Canada-Japan Short Animation Exchange

The National Film Board of Canada which boasts over 60 years' history and "Bravo! FACT," the largest private foundation in Canada that supports production of short films, will hold an exchange to aid independent animation creators in Japan and Canada to make their international debut.

GTF TOKYO CINEMA SHOW 2007

As the film industry aims to reach out to a 200 million audience, a summer festival is held where 10,000 cinema goers gather prior to the Tokyo International Film Festival which will be held in October.

Tokyo International CineCity Film Festival 2007

The new keyword is "We Love KABUKICHO." Entertaining and international events to suit the area are being organized. The Festival aims to revitalize the "Kabukicho"area, with participation by the whole of the town.
